Lili’s account: The Grand Canyon was one of the hottest places we had been. It was not I had imagined it - but it was nevertheless very good. We went on a small hike what seemed very easy going down. But going back up was very hard. There were signs all over the place suggesting to take lots of water. I had just enough to get back up. We saw three huge condors that flew close over our heads. We saw a little squirrel that was really cute. At the campsite we saw a male dear. pppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Anna’s account: On the way up we saw a Brit who did not bring enough water. Mummy said she had to go back down to give him some of our water. He said: I should have brought a bigger bottle with me. Mummy said: I have some to spare. Wouldn’t you like some. And then he said yes. And Daddy gave him his cap (he was bold and very red).
Anna’s account: We were in Joshua Tree National Park. There was a cactus garden full of funny looking cactus. They had little hooks on end of their needles. It was raining all the time. One time there was a sort of flash flood and it hailed. We went climbing on the rocks. It was a lot of fun. We could climb on high rocks. Our Aunt Rachel was with us. It was great to have her come and spend some time with us.
Lili’s account: After Phoenix we went to Joshua Tree National Park to meet our Aunt Rachel there. There were lots and lots of Cactuses. We stayed in a very nice campsite and we could climb on the rocks just outside. The next day we drove to Las Vegas. The road to go there was very very bumby because we drove through the desert.
Lili’s account: I loved Las Vegas. There were lots and lots of lights. We wanted to stay in a hotel called Circus Circus. But we couldn’t because there were too many people. So we stayed in a not very nice campsite. The next day we went to see the fountains of Belagio and an Arabian hotel. We went to a hotel were there lots of Flamingos. For lunch we stayed in Wynn, a brand new hotel. It was very nice and flashy. In the evening we went to a magic show. I liked it very much who made doves appear out of handkerchiefs. He even made a really big parrot appear fly out of a blue and yellow cloth. It flew round the room. Afterwards I went up on stage to assist the magician. I got a lot of applause and a T-shirt of the show. At the end all the magicians signed the shirt. The next morning Rachel had to go. ഌ༎ᄐጒᔔᤘᬚᴜ℠⌢┤✦
The entire trip to Las Vegas was only made possible by our decision to continue to stay in the US despite our 90 day waver running out because we needed to get our camper fixed. Over the last 3 weeks I had monitored the oil dripping out of the car, had got tyres changed, had worried about abnormal vibrations and after all that squabbling about the problem we decided to put it in a garage in Phoenix to get it repaired if possible. We had an appointment for a week later and so we left for the trip with Rachel. Back in Phoenix the garage took half the car apart and discovered a badly mounted front axel transmission housing seal. We had to wait for several days to get the part from Germany via courrier hoping that the garage people would be able to put everything together again. Italic
