Lake Powell At Lake Powell we rented a powerful motorboat to go up the lake for a couple of days and to camp out in the wilderness. The experience was a bit mixed because of having to put up our new tents in a sandstorm and having a BBQ in the sand. Very gritty meals!! But the deep black canyons and the colours of the rocks will remain an unforgettable experience.

Lili’s account: When we went Lake Powell we rented an 8- person motorboat. It was very fast and even faster than the one we rented in Vancouver. There was a place in front where you could sit an bounce up and down on the waves. It was a lot of fun. We rented a floater thing that you could lie on while it was pulled by the boat. When Anna, Cléo and I tried it first it went under water and we all fell in the water and Anna and Cléo were very frightened. But we floated with our life jackets and so it did not matter. Daddy jumped into the water and rescued us. Then Cléo did not want to go on it any more because she was too scared. That thing was very good because we could use it as a seat while camping. We camped in a narrow canyon where there was sand so that we could pull the boat up on it. And then we put our tents up. It was very windy and I had to sit in the tent while the others were putting it up so that it would not fly away. We had a very very sandy supper, but it was still ok. Then we went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and I had to go into Daddy’s tent because I was frightened. The next morning we had a very sandy breakfast and left. The way back was very fun because we went in the waves made by the other boats and so we bumped up and down. I loved it very much.

These canyons got more and more narrow as you drove in. It felt somewhat awkward to drive on not being able to land anywhere and just having a lot of very deep and dark water underneath. The kids were very concerned about Daddy’s qualities as captain. But we survived!! 湡敨眠污敫污湯a
