Going North: Calgary to Alaska Our first stop in the Rockies was in Banff. One of the great canadian national parks. We stayed for a couple of days to relax in a campsite not far from Banff. Unfortunately the mosquito count made us soon break up our tents and move on.

We travelled just 100 km North to Lake Louise. As you can see from the pictures tremendous landscape. Despite the beautiful turquoise lakes, the shining glaciers and the blue sky, the most important tourist attraction were the ground squirrels. Having got used to mankind, they were easy to attract and the kids spent hours chasing them and taking pictures. We were lucky to see several times bears from the car - even though it was only for a few moments before they quickly disappeared.
