Alaska down South - Villa Kuchling After having had a 2 hour traffic jam on the border crossing we arrived in ..., hmm not easy to find the right words, ... childrens paradise! Chris and Pat have created themselves a wonderful house with an entire zoo of animals to look after. We spent 5 days with them. ꎢꖤꞦꦨª

The children obviously loved playing with parrots, horses, dogs, cats, chickens and roosters, peacocks, etc. While Kate and I love being lectured by Chris on what to do and what not to do on our trip. We have to admit that Pat and Chris are actually people that you want to listen to on matters of year long family trips. They themselves have travelled the Pacific for 4 years with their two children and lived for 3 years in Hawaii on their boat before returning to live in Alaska.
Obviously, Chris was very disappointed by the "rush" of our trip. Just to see the US he thought would require at least 6 months (compared to the two months we had planned). Furthermore, our mode of camping, i.e. on campsites, was not all the way to enjoy the country. We were strongly encouraged (to my great pleasure) to move off the beaten track and do some "backcountry" camping. Chris made us a plan to see spend a couple of months just in Washington state which we politely ignored. We had such a great relaxing time with Chris and Pat. But after almost a week we felt we need to look for some more adventure (as Anna calls it).
No, this is not Long John Silver from the treasure island!!
Lili’s account: I loved Chris and Pat’s house because there are lots of animals: one horse called Tie, two parrots called Pip and Jaco, three cats, Bagera, Tigger and Snicker, two dogs: Buster and Kyra, lots of hens, and three peacocks. We went riding on Tie. I could hold Pip and Jaco on my hand and my favorite cat was Tigger. Anna’s account: I held Pip and Jaco on my hand. Chris took us on his tractor, which was a lot of fun. We fed Tie Blueberries. We played with Chris’ electric train putting people on it and making them fall off and driving over them! Then we put on a big show for the parents in the evening. We sold entry tickets to them at 1 $ per piece. ﯺ﷼
