Alaska down South We went back the same way as we had gone up for the first 1000 km - except we actually saw the breathtaking landscapes that we had driven through on our way up with no visibility due to the smoke. Where we had imagined a boring plain, there were icecovered mountain tops. A great drive down through Canada and back into Alaska to reach Haines where we are boarding the ferry to take the Inside Passage down to Bellingham.

Lili’s acccount: Anna did not want to go back the same way from Fairbanks to Haines as we had come because she thought it would be boring. But we saw the same Moose roughly at the same place along the road together with her calve and so we could take a picture.

Lili’s acccount: When we arrived in Haines we went in a very nice campsite with very nice grass - like on Grandpa’s lawn. Mummy wanted to go the Tlingit Indian dancing show - but they had left that day and Mummy was very dissapointed. Instead we watched a DVD of Winn-Dixie. I was very happy that I would have my birthday on the ferry. The next morning we got up very early to get to the ferry. It was like going to England (across the channel) except smaller. We got there very early and there were lots of people waiting on their Harley-Davidsons waiting
The longest strait road we encountered: 40 km without a single bend and a 2000 people town right on it
